Mayor’s report on the financial situation of the municipality

Mayor’s report on the financial situation of the municipality

In compliance with the Cities and Towns Act, I am pleased to report on the financial situation of the Town of Kirkland.

Financial results as at December 31, 2025

The financial statements have been audited by the accounting firm of BCGO who confirmed that they provide a true picture of the financial situation of the city for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2025 and reflect accurate results of its operations, variation of net financial assets (net debt) and cash flows for the year then ended, in accordance with Canadian accounting standards for the public sector. The 2025 financial report was tabled at the Council sitting of June 1st, 2026, along with the unqualified reports of the external auditor.

For the year 2025, revenues from the city’s financial activities amounted to $84,590,000 while expenditures and net appropriations totaled $83,090,000. The Town therefore ended the year 2025 with a surplus of $1,500,000 derived mainly from industrial taxation and revenues generated by interest on investments.

Major Capital Works and Special Projects

In 2025, investment projects totaling $14,440,000 were completed, including:

  • Work on sanitary pipes and the stormwater network – Kirkland boulevard, Beacon, Mountainview and Daniel
  • Rehabilitation of Bonaventure street, including watermain
  • Refrigerated rink at Holleufer park
  • Resurfacing and scarification – Saint-Charles between Brunswick and Pierrefonds-Roxboro city limit
  • Purchase of the following items:
    • One tractor
    • One vertical lift
    • One thermal weeding equipment
    • One salt spreader equipment
    • Two pickup type service vehicles

The financial report for the year ended December 31, 2025 is available on the Town’s website at https://www.ville.kirkland.qc.ca/municipal-profile/financial-profile/financial-report.

And I have signed in Kirkland, this 1st day of June, 2026.

Michel Gibson
Mayor of the Town of Kirkland
