Nearly every day, we are bombarded with headlines about the latest“miracle food” we should be consuming—blueberries to fight cancer, flaxseed for heart health, soybeans to ease menopause symptoms, or green coffee bean extract for weight loss. Then there are the worries: alcohol, food additives, gluten, pesticide residues, GMOs, antibiotics, and even meat. Navigating this maze of nutritional advice requires sound, evidence-based science to guide us.
