Please note that due to the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Environment Day scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at the Municipal Yard is postponed to a later date.

The "Adopt A Tree For $20" Program is also postponed to a later date.



Environment Day is a Kirkland Environment Committee initiative to raise resident awareness on good environmental practices. Information booths, workshops, free compost and wood chips, sale of rain water barrels and backyard composters, and much more!

The Town's eco-counsellor and members of the environment committee will be there to answer citizen questions and guide them towards sound and environmentally-friendly horticultural practices.

REDUCE YOUR ENVIRONMENTAL FOOTPRINT!
  • Sale of rain water barrels: Come purchase your rain water barrel at the low cost of $45. Easy to use, the barrels are for collecting rain water which is then used to water lawns and gardens. Reduce your water consumption and save money.
  • Sale of backyard composters: Get a backyard composter at the low cost of $25 and reduce the quantity of your household waste!
EMBELLISH YOUR GARDEN!
Come and stock up on free compost and wood chips to embellish your flowerbeds and gardens! Don't forget to bring your shovel and a container (bag or plastic bin).
  • Compost: Produced from leaf collections and now ready for your gardening projects. Watch your tomatoes growbetter than ever!
  • Wood chips: To enhance the look of your flowerbeds and reduce maintenance time.
  • Trucks and trailers are prohibited.
