July 2 and 3, 2025: Interruption of the drinking water supply and preventative boil-water advisory for certain addresses on Valérie Street (between Harmony and Cordova) Update: June 30, 2025 Notice to affected residences Valérie Street: even addresses 22 to 48 and odd addresses 35 to 47 The Town will be carrying out maintenance work on the water supply system in your area on July 2 and 3, 2025. These interventions will require the closure of a section of Valérie Street, a temporary interruption of the drinking water supply service, and a preventive boil water advisory. Street Closure To carry out preparatory work, Valérie Street will be closed to traffic between Harmony and Cordova Streets starting July 2. Please note that this work may result in reduced water pressure in the area. Planned interruption of the drinking water service To carry out the maintenance work, we will have to interrupt your drinking water service as of 8 a.m. on Thursday, July 3. In anticipation of this interruption, we recommend that affected residents stock up on water to meet their consumption needs during the interruption period. Once water supply is restored, a preventative boil-water advisory will be in effect for a minimum of 48 hours and until further notice. Recommendations: Please note that you must boil your tap water (bringing it to a bubbling boil) for at least 1 minute before drinking it, or use bottled water for: drinking or preparing beverages; preparing baby bottles and baby food; washing and preparing food to be eaten raw (fruits, vegetables, etc.); preparing food that doesn’t require long cooking time; making ice cubes; brushing your teeth or rinsing your mouth; providing water to pets. You may use unboiled tap water to: prepare food and dishes that require long boiling time for cooking; wash dishes in hot water, making sure to dry them well; wash clothing; take a shower or bath (make sure that young children do not swallow water while bathing). Lifting of the boil-water advisory Water samples will be collected from various locations and submitted for laboratory analysis. The boil-water advisory will be lifted once we receive the results of these tests, which requires a minimum of 48 hours. The lifting of the boil water advisory will be announced on the city’s website only, in the "Alerts" section. Please note that you will receive no further communication to this effect. Your cooperation is essential!

In order for snow clearing operations to be carried out efficiently, allowing you to en joy a well ploughed street, it is important that no vehicles, recycling bins, garbage cans or other, stand in the way of the snow plough.

Snow removal and salt spreading on streets

Snow clearing operations are carried out by an outside contractor on the Town’s 120 km or roads. Municipal employees, for their part, are responsible for salt and sand spreading operations on streets and sidewalks as well as for snow clearing of municipal building parking lots.

Priority to main arteries

During major snowfalls, priority must be given to main arteries, such as Saint-Charles, Hymus and Brunswick Boulevards, Sainte-Marie and l’Anse-à-l’Orme Roads as well as the TransCanada Highway service roads. Your patience is therefore greatly appreciated when it comes to clearing residential roads.

When do snow clearing operations begin?

Accumulation of less than 2.5 cm
When snow starts to fall (accumulation < 2.5 cm), the crew travels along main arteries, steep and curving streets as well as sidewalks, spreading salt and sand.
Accumulation of more than 2.5 cm
As soon as accumulation reaches 2.5 cm, snow removal and salt spreading operations begin on the entire road network, as needed.

Damage to property

Any damage to private property resulting from snow removal operations carried out on city streets (lawns, retaining walls, curbs or other) may be reported online at any time through the Requests on Line system or by phone at 514 630-2727.

Come spring, we will ensure that proper repairs are carried out and charged to the snow removal contractor. Please note that the Town is not responsible for damages that may occur as a result of snow blown from the street onto the street right-of-way (part of any private property extending from the property line to the curb).

Parking in the winter time

Overnight parking on public roads is prohibited between 1 and 7 a.m. from November 15 to April 15. Parking on the street is also prohibited during or after a snowstorm.

Please note that non-compliance with this regulation may result in a fine.
