Nature of work: Replacement of a section of the storm sewer network on Argyle Street. This work is required to ensure the proper functioning of municipal infrastructure and maintain the reliability of the stormwater drainage system.
Location: Argyle Street, between Acres Street and the Kirkland limit
Start date: August 3, 2026
Expected impacts: Temporary traffic disruptions, as well as an increased presence of construction equipment and personnel in the work area, are to be expected throughout the duration of the project.

Location: Sainte-Marie East Overpass
Nature of the work: Work will include the reconstruction of certain sidewalk sections as well as drainage corrections, which will be carried out during the day. Scarification and repaving operations on the north and south sections of the roadway, near the approaches to the overpass, will take place overnight, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
Traffic impacts: Lane reductions are to be expected during daytime work. Overnight, the eastbound Sainte-Marie Overpass will be completely closed to traffic. Road users will be asked to follow the signage in place to detour around the work area.

Nature of the work: Work will be carried out to reconfigure the right-turn lane providing access to Saint-Charles Boulevard South from Sainte-Marie Road East. This work is being carried out as part of Sotramont’s ongoing residential development project.
Traffic disruptions to be expected: The existing merge lane onto Saint-Charles Boulevard South will be completely closed. Road users must follow the new signage installed in the area.

Subsidy program to provide financial aid in the fight against the spread of the Emerald ash borer
Do you have an ash tree on your property?
The Town of Kirkland is offering a subsidy program that provides financial assistance to private landowners who must treat with TreeAzinMD or cut down one or more ash trees located on their property.
To take advantage of this financial aid program, please complete the subsidy application form. Once duly completed and signed, please submit the application form to the Public Works Department in either of the following ways:
The applicant is responsible for performing the work:
The applicant must complete this application form in order to obtain a tree cuttingcertificate from the Town’s Public Works Department (issued free of charge).
The original invoice must include the following: name and address of the applicant, a detailed work description for every ash tree to be felled, including the DBH (diameter at breast height).
The applicant must pay the costs involved and subsequently request reimbursement from the Town.
Replacement of a felled ash tree
Every ash tree felled on private property must be replaced with a tree that is at least 3.5 cm (35 mm) in diameter measured at 1.3 metre from ground level, of a species other than a prohibited species.
The applicant is responsible for purchasing and planting the replacement tree which may be obtained :
from the Town – please verify available programs;
at his/her preferred nursery – the selected species must have previously been approved by the Town in order for the purchasing and planting costs to qualify for the subsidy
Payment of the subsidy
The payment of the subsidy which the applicant may be eligible to is at the sole discretion of the Town of Kirkland, subject to the availability of funds. Payment of the subsidy will only take place once the Town is in receipt:
of a proof of felling and of tree replacement, where the subsidy application is for the felling of an ash tree;
of an invoice for treatment application, where the subsidy application is for the treatment of an ash tree
