Storing a recreational vehicle

Storing recreational vehicles such as trailers, tent-trailers, motor homes, boats under 7.0 m (23.0 ft) long, motorbikes and snowmobiles does not require a certificate of authorization from the Urban Planning Department. However, certain regulations apply.

Applicable regulations

Before storing a recreational vehicle on your property, it is important to understand the local regulations that apply.

Storing recreational vehicles must follow specific rules outlined in the municipal by-laws:

Storage standards

Location

  • A recreational vehicle shall be stored only in the rear and lateral setback (prohibited in front setbacks)
  • A recreational vehicle must be screened from street view

Permitted quantity

  • One recreational vehicle per dwelling unit

Restrictions

  • The recreational vehicle must be for the exclusive use of dwelling occupants
  • Living in any equipment stored or parked is prohibited
